Oh So Masaba Archival is a return to the very first chapter of the House of Masaba. When Masaba made her debut in fashion in 2009, the sari stood at the core of the brand, shaping its visual language and creative direction. At a time when the sari followed familiar rules, the House chose to challenge them through bold prints, unexpected colour stories, and motifs that felt personal and expressive. These early Masaba sarees laid the foundation for a new way of seeing Indian fashion.
Print and motif became the spine of the brand in its formative years. Motifs like the camera and the palm, once seen as unconventional, quickly grew into recognisable symbols of the House. These visuals came to define the brand’s identity, making a House of Masaba saree recognisable at first glance. Oh So Masaba Archival brings together a collection of most iconic saris designed between 2009 and 2013. These pieces defined the brand’s emerging years and went on to become landmark moments in Indian fashion.
From the camera sari that made fashion “pop” and broke the internet before the phrase existed, to bold colour-blocked statements that signalled the arrival of a modern visual language, each sari holds a distinct place in the House of Masaba story. Oh So Masaba Archival brings together these seven landmark saris, reimagined with care for today. Rendered in luxurious Habutai silk, each piece offers a lighter, more fluid drape while preserving the original design language. Advances in dyeing and printing techniques allow colours to appear richer and motifs sharper, while staying true to the original spirit. Today, the printed saree continues to remain as cool as ever, refined with time.
Available for a brief period of time, this archival edit is produced in limited numbers. Each sari, including the iconic masaba black saree, comes with a hand-numbered tag that marks its place in the archive.
