In 2009, this specific piece broke every rule of traditional saree by introducing high-contrast color-blocking, a fearless blend of vibrant yellow, pink, and bold borders that became an overnight sensation when it was famously draped by Kareena Kapoor. To us, this masterpiece marked the dawn of the "New India" aesthetic and remains our most requested archival treasure to this day.




Reimagined in 2026

Seventeen years later, the saree remains as cool as ever. Masaba wanted to bring this back for a short burst of time to give you a flavour of what the brand’s core and essence really were back then, but upgraded for today. We’ve reimagined it in 100% Pure Habutai Silk, creating a drape that is significantly richer yet lighter than the original, with saturation levels that make the pigment pop with a depth that was technically impossible a decade ago.

The Collector’s Note

This is not a restock, it is a revival. Masaba wanted to bring it back for one last time in its most original format.
